How quickly can you have a babies last name changed?

The babies mother recently wish to have the babies last name changed to hers, which i have no problem with. Could anyone tell me the cost and the processes of the name change. We are currently undergoing DNA testing.

How quickly can you have a babies last name changed?
you will have to go to the registry of birth, deaths and marriages

i changed my sons first name and it was very easy, you need proof of residency and ID for both the parents, you need your passports and birth certificate or citizenship certificate if not born in australia. if you want to change the name urgently i.e in five days you pay extra ( i paid $165), it costs $121 for normal processing that takes 10 days. i think there has been a slight change to the prices

good luck
Reply:I have no idea on the cost involved, but if your name is on the birth certificate then you'll have to file paperwork with the court and probably go before a judge in order to have your name removed. It's possible that you'll also have to sign paperwork terminating your parental rights if you're their biological father, but I'm not sure.
Reply:It can take up to six weeks to get the paperwork completed and filed and have the birth certificate changed. I suggest you start the process as soon as possible.

It is about 25.00 here, but it may be different where you live.
Reply:it really depends on the state. i know where i live, after the dna testing is done, the father can petition the court to have the babies last name changed during the visitation/child support hearing.
Reply:i am sure that would depend all on the state, but i honestly could not tell you about how much and how long. sorry.
