Question about 2nds and 3rds on a babies name ?
Typically, the whole "Sr", "Jr or ll", "lll" works in concurrent generations. Meaning, Generation 1 would be Sr (Father), Gen2 would be Jr (son), Gen3 would be lll (grandson)... I've never heard of this sort of thing skipping generations to become a lll or lV.. Just name him Charles Edward Ray... Is the rest really that important?
Reply:If he has the same last names than you can but otherwise it doesn't make since. Technically you could name him whatever you want but I think as far as what is common and tradition. It has to be the exact same name to be a Jr., ll, lll, etc. If he will have a different last name than his great grandfather than you could always just name him Charles Edward and drop the lll part.
Reply:You can do it. The II, III and so on are just added additions to a name, if you want them there you can put them there. They are usually used instead of Jr or Sr when you are naming someone after a family member that is not an immediate parent. They don't even need the same exact name, just a similar name.
