At what age do babies start responding to their name?

I have an 8 week old son and he does not yet turn his head when i call out his name. At what stage should he start responding to his own name?

I am not overly concerned about this as he is developmentally on target otherwise ie - can roll over from his front to back, turn his head towards the sound of music, is smiling and has full head control, I would just like to know when to expect him to recognise his own name.

At what age do babies start responding to their name?
My daughter was 4 months
Reply:Year-old babies who do not respond when their name is called may be more likely to be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental problem at age 2, making this simple test a potential early indicator for such conditions, according to a report in the April issue of Archives of Pediatrics %26amp; Adolescent Medicine, a theme issue on autism spectrum disorders.
Reply:My son started recognizing his name, I think around 3-4 months.

I can see turning toward the sound of music, smiling an even having head control, but your 2 month old is already rolling over - girl, that's early!
Reply:between 3 and 5 months. I would have thought 8 weeks was a bit early to be rolling over...my baby is 15 weeks and still doesnt completely roll over and also a bit early for full head control..partial control maybe!
Reply:All babies are different, our daughter new her name at 3-4 months.
Reply:when he does make the most of it as dont take long before they dont respond to it again lol
Reply:i think round 1 or 2
Reply:full head control and rolling from back to front at 8 weeks .... I really don't think so. Troll.
