Can a mother change the babies name?

I live in the U.K.

I am a Dad, I am not married to the mother,

My child is 1 year 7 months old.

I was seeing the mother up until recently.

Can she change the child's second name without my consent?

Can a mother change the babies name?
She would have to file it through a court and you would have the say on whether or not you wanted to change it. I changed my first sons last name but his father was not in his life at all.. As long as you are paying support and in the childs life, I dont think she'd be able to.
Reply:If you are not listed on the birth certificate you have no rights or responsibilities to the child (well legal anyway..you have ethical responsibilities).

However, if you are on the birth certificate, she will have to get your signature on the deed poll for it to be official.
Reply:nope!...once the baby has been called a name and its on the birth cert you can't change it only to child can when its 18.
Reply:Nobody can legally change a name unless there's a court order saying it's okay.

My husband's ex has another man's name on the birth certificate. But the mother would put down on all her daycare information her maiden name rather than the man's last name. She can do this, but not legally speaking. No legal document would ever pass without a court order....
Reply:not if your on the birth certificate

she can when it comes to school etc but legally passports or anyting like that she cant change
Reply:I don't know. I personaly think it would be unfair if she could and if she did.
