UK everyone gets child benefit you claim after the child is born, BUT he will be expected also to pay for his child this is child support its nothing to do with child benefit. If his name is on the birth certificate you will need to inform whoever pays you so they can get money off him for his child
If my babies fathers name is put on the birth certificate, will this mean i cannot claim child benifit?
Hummm, this is a little vague.
If you mean on Taxes ( you are the custidial parrent there for you get the child tax credit)
You you are referring to AFDC/ Medicade/ WIC/ or TANIF:
The factors will vary, on you income, family size, marital status, and unfortunately race. ( the point system is just set up that way, I have known people who work for the TDHS)
The only down side I can see is if he is a violent, abusive man ( the you must decide what the best course would be) If he is just unreliable, the state can handel that.
Having the Father listed on the Birth Certificate is a good idea, it will protect the child in the future %26amp; there are many benefits to that being done.
If you are unsure check the OAG ( office of Attorney General) I believe each state has one online.
Reply:Something to remember though, If you do not see him in your child's future it may not be wise to put him on the birth certificate. Once he is on there it will became very hard and expensive to remove him. So if one day you want to change his last name it'll cost a lot of money from a lawyer to attempt to have it changed. In essence you would have to prove to the courts that he is an unfit father and take away his privileges to be a father. Which is very difficult and could cause your baby to have a different last name then you forever.
Reply:like child support,,,,,, not true its just proof he is the babys daddy so you dont have to go thru the paternity test and all to get the support
Reply:so basically you want to know how to steal from the hard working people. nice
