What age should babies be able to understand there name?

I'm writing a novel and in the story the people who found a baby are going what it's name etc and then the baby replies(saying it's name). I was hoping to have it around 2 years old but would a 2 year old be able to reply if it was asked "What is your name?" and would it understand it.

What age should babies be able to understand there name?
Yes a two year old would definitely be able to understand and reply. My 9 month old turns around if you call his name and my two year old knows her name and age if you ask her.
Reply:My son is just over 15 months and he can say his name, so he knows it very well. I'm not sure whether he'd understand what is your name though. He kind of just copies from us when we say Adam, and then repeats it for about half an hour every now and again lol.
Reply:Yes, they would at that age. Unless they had been shut in a room and not talked too their whole life lol. At 2 my daughter was talking very well, and had known her name for a while.
Reply:Of course, my 1 year old nephew knows when i'm calling him by his name and he also answer when you ask him how old is he, so a 2 year old will even know his complete name
Reply:Yeah, of course!
Reply:yes they should at 2, my sons 19 months and he knows when im talking to him or call his name
